Good blog comment helps to increase blog traffic

Caroline Middlebrook, a two month old blogger was able to increase her blog traffic from 3000 readers in September to an amazing 11000 readers in October! I just came across the blog post of Caroline Middlebrook, in which she did some analysis of her blog stats.

It’s her second month of blogging online and she said she had been blogging on a full time basis. Most of her traffic were StumbleUpon traffic accounting 8000+ visitors. But the coolest thing was getting traffic from the comments she left on other blogs. She had 673 visitors to her blog from the comments she left! Now that’s not a very good traffic but considering the two months old blog, isn’t it huge? 101 visitors from Yaro Starak, 94 from Problogger, 54 from WorriorBlog, 32 from Uber Affiliate, 27 from DoshDosh, these are the number of traffic came from the popular blogs! She even manages to convert her readers into subscribers and that’s something she plays cool.

She never left links in her comments, she got the traffic from the people curious enough to find out who is behind those intelligent comments that she left. Now that’s what I call intelligent commenting.

I think she was creative enough to grab the attention of the crowd. She didn’t spam the blog posts with useless comments but added some juice to the conversations already happening. Watches the topic and increases the value to the blog post.

If you ask my tip on this, I should say, go and keep on commenting on blogs as many as you can, don’t spam the posts, try to add some juice, watch the topic. I figured funny and hilarious comments grab attention very quickly, but that doesn’t mean you should drop dumb comments, they do the worse you can trust me on this. Drop a comment that is smart, intelligent with some sense of humor and watch the traffic flow in.

Thanks very much for the post. To clarify one thing though - those stats were collected after two full months blogging. My first month stats were far less impressive :)

She’s been blogging for full time and commenting on different popular blogs. Well getting that much traffic includes a bit of luck though.

Using stumble is a good methos of driving traffic to a website, in terms of getting people to read your blog it is a great methos, however if you have a business website, the conversion rates are genrally very poor.

Well said Pete. StumbleUpon helps to build good reader base and quick blog popularity but to convert your readers into sales, you need organic search engine traffic.
